SOURIAU is one of the foremost manufacturers for the autosport industry and has launched its latest range of Autosport connectors, manufactured to ISO 9001, which is distributed in the UK by specialists, Beru F1 Systems.
Beru F1 Systems is a key supplier, globally, of electronic components, electrical wiring harnesses and measurement systems for a wide range of motorsport applications including Formula One, the World Rally Championship and Grand Prix motorcycle racing.
Using Mil Spec technology and components, the 8STA range, which is available in 5 shell styles in sizes 6-24, is derived from the high density Eurofighter JN1003 specification and provides outstanding performance and reliability. The composite size 6 version of 8STA offers substantial weight reduction of up to 40%. Both this connector and the more rugged fully mateable aluminium type have proved highly successful in both Formula 1 motor racing and WRC applications.
The newly launched aluminium 8STA size 4 connectors provide even greater weight and space saving. SOURIAU UK believe that this design, proven on F1 engines last season, gives the optimum combination of size and weight reduction yet retains a rugged shell and a highly reliable electrical as well as mechanical mating system.
These size 4 connectors are available either with 5 size 26 contacts or 3 size 22 contacts. The aluminium connectors feature an aluminium alloy shell with black zinc plating and thermoplastic insulation. Copper alloy contacts are gold-plated with 45N (size 22) and 35N (size 26) contact retention, offering 500 mating/unmating operations. This range is shock tested to MIL-S-901 Grade A, vibration tested to 147m/s 2 , 10 to 2000Hz and is flash fire tested to >2mn at 600oC. Rated to IP67 with a silicone gromet and sealing on 22 to 30 AWG wires, this range is resistant to salt spray for 48 hours and provides an operational temperature range which extends from -55oC to +175oC. In addition, the range is highly resistant to motor oil, unleaded fuel and car brake fluid.
